Wesak day

Wesak festival is the most important festival for Buddhist, because the Lord Buddha’s enlightenment was celebrated on this day. Wesakday falls on month of May.

On this day we observe sil and we go to the pilgrimages. Wesak is celebrated by people in all over the world. People go to temple and offer flower to Lord Buddha. We are very happy on this day, because the children make the beautiful wesak lanterns and light oil lamps. People decorate their houses with those things. On this season we can see our country is very beautiful with pandals, wesak lantern and colorful bulbs.

In the wesak season we organize the wesak lanterns competition. We can present them. The most beautiful wesak lantern wins. On this day children get holiday. This day we decorate our school with tissue papers, lanterns, printed papers. We spend this wesak poya day very usefully.                        

Sinharaja Rainforest.

The sinharaja rainforest is most important forest in Sri Lanka. It is about 9000 hectares In extent. Over 60% of the tree species are found only in Sinharaja rainforest. Many of the plants are very rare.The sinharaja rainforest is the largest rainforest reserve in Sri Lanka. In 1989 UNESCO included this forest in the world heritage list, as the National Heritage of Sri Lanka.There are many rare animals, birds, butterflies, insects, reptiles and trees. These are very valuable things for the people. Sinharaja provides a habitat for animals. And also Sinharaja has beautiful waterfalls, hills, hills, flowers and rocks. Studied have recorded 147 species of birds in sinharaja.The average height of trees in the sinharaja veries between 35 to 40 meters. Some trees are above 50 meters.The sinharaja rain forest is a valuable source of people. So we must protect this as our eyes.
 

The Importance of Water.

The water is the most importance resource for all the human beings, animals, and trees. We can’t live without water. If there is no water, people, animals and will die.
 
We can get water from rivers, tanks, wells, and rain. Trees are help to us for get water. Water is a natural resource. Because, we protect water like our lives. Sri Lanka is lucky share with other countries. Because our country have lot of water. Sri Lanka called the pearl of Indian Ocean.

The water is very useful. Why  do we need water? We need water  for drinking, cooking, cultivating, washing, cleaning, bathing, transporting, farming, living and electricity. Now we can understand the value of water.
 
We should pay greater attention for preserving water. We should stop water wastage. To stop water wastage, we must manage water well. To protect water we use water carefully.          
 

My Village

My village is Walawela. Nihiluwa is the neighboring village of Walawela . My village is situated in Hambantota district. My village has about 75 families. It is small and beautiful. It has small rivers and tanks. My village has a temple. It name is “Shri Devarakkhitharamaya”.
                            My village has lot of paddy fields. Its main occupation is agriculture.
Beliatta is the nearest town of my village. The people of my village live in peacefully.
I love my village and I wish always it success.
